Clarissa's first PI grant through CU Innovations
Congratulations to Clarissa Garcia for her CU Cancer Center Pilot Grant " Investigating gene regulatory mechanisms associated with elevated B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia incidence in Hispanic/Latinos". Clarissa's graduate work aims to undercover why Latino individuals are more susceptible to ALL, and pin down the mechanisms of gene regulation that drive this disparity.

Lab receives first NIH/NCI R37 Award
In 2025, the lab received funding from the NIH/NCI 1R37CA295527-01 to determine fatty acid metabolism-based mechanisms human B-ALL survival during CAR-T therapy and establish fatty acid uptake inhibition as a potential strategy to improve CAR-T efficacy, reflecting the public health relevance of this project.
